Export-SPWeb : The URL provided is invalid …

Frequently, I got this Error when Export List/Site using Export-SPWeb command in Power Shell :

Export-SPWeb : The URL provided is invalid. Only valid URLs that are site collections or sites are allowed to be exported using stsadm.exe.

because of “/” character in front of ItemUrl parameter. sometimes you have to get rid of it, e.g.:

export-spweb http://spvm1/sites/site1 -ItemUrl “Lists/list1” -path “C:\list1.cmp”

Or in other case you have to put it on, e.g. :

export-spweb http://spvm1.edanan.com -ItemUrl “/Lists/list1″ -path “C:\list1.cmp”

Based on my experience it depends on site URL.. (see the difference above)
